Default Horn Doesnt Work, Suggestions?

My horn works intermittently. Mostly when I don't really need it, it works. I've unplugged and replugged the leads. It sounds as though it has someone's hand over the port. There's nothing plugging it. It's not wet. Any suggestions? Is this a fix-it or replace-it kind of problem? I'd rather not spend big bucks if possible. Thanks in advance.

Some horns have an adjustment screw on the back side. I don't know if the Harley horn does or not. Also check that you have a good ground.

Nothing to fix within the horn. Be sure to check both ends of the wiring, and the connection at the horn switch. Corrosion at the ground is the most frequent problem. Swap horns with a buddy to see if it really is bad before going out and buying a replacement.

Get a small piece of aluminum foil and fold it over the male end of the plug, then plug it back in to the female side. You shouldn't have any more problems.

Thanks y'all. That's something I can manage. The connections at the horn are pretty solid, but I might take some steel wool and "brighten" up the blades. Thanks.

You gotta read the bumper stickers. "Horn broke, watch for finger"

Yep. Sometimes I feel that way. Probably wouldn't go over too good in this small town where I live, me bein a preacher and all My wife is still contemplating carrying a stick to hit cars that get too close. She dang near got caught by surprise and kicked one this summer in Atlanta. What I wish is that I could mount my Ah-Oo-Gah horn from my old 70 Chevy PU.

With my bikes, water has been the culprit. I have replaced three horns in the past two years all due to water damage. I either need to quit washing my bike so often or quit riding in the rain!

Default Nut may be too tight

Make sure the nut is not too tight that fastens it on to the bracket.
This will muffle the sound and/or silence it.

I replaced the China made horn, with another one from Auto Zone about $7.
If you really want more sound go with the air horns.
