Default Helmet Cords

The coiled cords that connect our helmets to the radio system keep coming unplugged.
Any way to keep them plugged in?
Wish they had designed them to turn & twist, instead of plugging straight in.
Suggestions? Comments?
Btw, our extended trip is going fine (Atl-Grand Canyon). No problems with the 08 Ultra.
Have gone over 3,500 miles so far and the beast just keeps on keepin' on.
Will need 15k service when we get back.
Ride safe, folks!

They are designed for quick release in case of an accident they let go and dont keep you connected to the bike.

What you can do is put a tiny piece of velcro on the connector and on the cover for the bike plug and then secure them together that way. It will still come undone provided you dont over do the velcro and will also stay in place while riding.

I had same problem with plug going to helmet came unpluged and from helmet and end hit tank on my new ultra and chipped paint down to base color. ticked me off big time too. I used a small wire tie and fastend it to helmet strap so this will not happen again.

i have the J&M headsets with their two piece cord. it is a bit longer than the stock HDs. I haven't had any problems with the cord(s) coming unhooked.

I have the J&M too. No problems. You might try stretching the cord out, this may take off some of the pressure.

With the plug hooked into the headset, loosen the clamp that holds it on the helmet and remove it. Bend the straight piece of the cord back through the lower channel of the two-piece clamp and put it back on the helmet. Be careful not to smash the cord when tightening the clamp and you're all set. This runs the cord back toward the rear, but it will reach the bike receptacle ok. This won't disconnect from the helmet in an accident, but I feel that it would disconnect from the bike ok. After I did this, I have had no problems with the cord coming loose. Before I did it, the cord came loose very often.
