ACTUAL SOUND is so damn personal that to make a fully educated decision, IMHO, you really need to physically hear the set-up you are leaning towards. Your local HOG chapter, dealer, poker run, ralley, etc, is a great place to start. In a perfect world it would be best to hear the set-up at idle, highway cruise, fully loaded, etc. It would be great to hear the sound while riding another bike that is behind, along side and in front. Also nice to stand on the road and listen as the bike passes by.
I didn’t take my own advice, got in a hurry, and went with the Rinehart True Duals on my 08 Ultra. They were popular and I couldn't take the sound of the stock exhaust for one more day. I love the look and cooling of the Rinehart TD’s but the sound IMHO is a little loud and raspy on a load or big climb. Plus I didn’t realize that the Rinehart TD’s head pipes won’t work with any other slip-on’s due to the stepped header system. So I’ll just take my time and find what I want, then sell the Rineharts. Plenty of people want-em, so they'll sell. I’m leaning towards the V & H with Monster Ovals. I’ll keep the Ness Big Sucker and I love my PCIII.
I live just a little north of Seattle if anyone nearby wants to get a live look or listen to the Rineharts TD’s. I’d also love to see and hear some Monster Ovals in person.
