Default runout limit ?

I checked the crank runout and came up with just a tick over .002". Good enough for cam gears? If it is I am planning on replacing the cam plate oil pump with the SE plate and adding the HQ0034 with gear drive. Thanks.

Maximum runout for gear drives is .004
You should be fine.

I'd say .003 maximum, but you should be ok with .002. Did you measure with plate in or plate out?

Dawg...I'm going by what the installation directions that come with S&S gears state.

I think the best info this guy could get...call HQ and talk to them.
Not only can he get this info, they may have some tips that will help him.

I'd say youre good Neil, that was about what I came up with on the ugly RG. Then again, I found out that I really wasnt capable of measuring .002, although the equipment was. Pretty tough to be that precise using the back wheel. But it was sommers around there.
Good luck with your install.

I'm not doubting that, just preference and to be on the safer side, I would not use gears unless it was .003 or under.

Dawg, it was with plate out. aclass, I had the same issue trying to tunr the engine over with the rear wheel. I was able to see .002 in one direction and about .0005 give or take in another direction. All adds up to less than .003 total. Time to order what I need, but, I will double check with the guys at HQ before I order gear cams. Again, thanks to all on this forum! The info here has made things so much easier.
Dawg, when I get the parts I will give you a call.
