Monster Ovals
sound: low rumble. The ONLY set of pipes Ive had that are relatively quiet, but still sound GOOD. I tried the current 4" SE Street legal mufflers, the former 3" Touring performance mufflers, and can say the monster a little bit louder than either, but MUCH better sounding. The former two made my bike sound like it had been nuetered. The monsters SOUND awesome, like a Harley should, but are not loud. They are the only ones I have tried that I can say that about. They do NOT have the "crack" that the standard ovals have. (have run regular ovals on two prev bikes)
quality: first rate. V&H is a class act.
decibles: dunno for sure other than I DO know, that they are not technically "street legal" in decibles, and you will note that V&H does not market them as such. I DO think, that they are quiet enough to NOT draw attention to themselves. I cannot imagine being pulled over based on VOLUME. I will also say that unlike almost any muffler I have had in the past, the volume stays pretty consistent throughout the RPM range. In other words, when you get on the throttle, the volume goes up maybe about 20 percent, instead of them getting quite a bit louder under acceleration like most mufflers do. You can hear that in my video clip.
Performance: On an 09, stock 96", with stock headpipes, SE heavy breather, SERT and
dyno tuned: 78HP, 90.42 ft lbs.

If you have not seen it already, this is my bike:

Note that under acceleration, theres kind of a "whoosing" sound in that clip. That is actually the sound of the heavy breather intake sucking air, NOT the mufflers.
This is a good "static" clip (bike at standstill) not my bike, but good representation of the monster sound.
