I've had the lexan windshield ruined by gas station windshield cleaning solution before dont do it!
I carry a can of plexus and a soft towel.
Speaking of towels,if you get to a motel soak a towel with hot water and lay it on your windshield overnight.
Bugs wipe right off in the morning
I also figure the windshield on my Electraglide as a wear item and replace it about once a year.
Less money than a rear tire after all and there's nothing like a having a new windshield.
I'm lucky in that the stock shield works for fine me so I pick up new take offs from ebay or bike forum members when the deal is there.
I have two brand new ones stashed away right now and spent less than $75 for the two of them.
I just use the squeeji and fluid provided by the gas stations when I stop for gas.
Man, don't do that...you will have to replace that windshield in no time at all. Those things scratch easily. Windex will etch them so that glare becomes a huge problem.
jjsanta and Kahuna bring up valid points, as do others.
By no means use the garden variety of gas station window cleanup crap. It's made for glass. Plexus is a fine alternative, as well as Honda polish. Microfiber or a T shirt soaked in water and pulled over the windshield while you gas up or eat a snack works wonders. These Lexan or Plexiglass shields will haze over in no time flat if you use those paper towels or sqeezie types. And, maybe some wax on it would help later down the road.
The very best cleaner is "Lemon Pledge" and a rag from an old T-shirt. Removes bugs and makes rain water roll off plexiglas. Good to use on the tank paint after gasoline splash at fillup. Comes in small container. Keep T-shirt rag in poly bag. ......... BC
OK a little off the windshield subject but still about bug guts. What do you all use to clean them off when they have the mis fortune of hitting the motor and bake into the black wrinkle finish. Seems hard to remove without leaving something behind ?
