I am trying to install power commander on 2008 flhx. The bike has abs and criuse, and I am having a tough time trying to figure out where there is enough room for the everything. I am kind of stumped and would appreciate some advice. Thanks

 

Use plastic ties to tie it to the face of the factory ECM which should give you enough room for the wires.

 

I think the real trick is getting the front harness wedged between the battery. With it in there it is hard to get the tray back in place so I trimmed the corners on the tray so they would rest flat better. I put the back fastener in and tightened and then layed the PC on top of the tray. I don't see any reason to zip tie it because it isn't going anywhere under there. If the seat goes back on, then you've got everything tucked in there fine. If not you will probably just have to apply more pressure to the front of the tray.

 

I have the pc iii under the right side panel but I cant find anyway to find room for the plug or anyplace under the seat for the extra plug and cable.

 

Remove the 4 small bolts that hold the factory ecm on and there is plenty of room behind it under the battery compartment to put all your wires, then zip tie the pcIII to the face of the ecm when you put bolts back in. You will be zip tieing it vertically to the ecm. You may need to thread the 2 zip ties under the ecm before tightening the bolts completely. When you stated the pcIII was under the right side panel I am assuming the ecm is also located there as in prior years but you would know better on that. On my 09 they moved the ecm to under the seat, on top of the battery compartment and it may have been that way on 08's not sure.

 

08 is under the seat.

 

Disregard my solution as my advice was only if the ecm was on the side. On my 09 ultra when I had the seat off putting the backrest hardware on I was wondering myself if the Power Commander would fit under there. Looks real tight. I thought they would have updated the instructions for the under seat versions. With the 06 I had the instructions that were very good with pics and all.

 

I just did mine last Sunday and stuffed everything under the right side panel with the ECM. My forst attempt was a little sloppy and the top rear of the side panel kept popping back out of the hole.
I pulled it off and zip tied the heck out of all the cables. That cleaned it up and it all fit better, but I still want to move it.
The instructions said to mount the PCIII under the left side cover and run the connectors over to the right, but there was no way I could get those connectors through. I may have to do some cutting/grinding of the battery tray...

 

I found out that there is separate instructions for 2008 touring with abs brakes. I had stuffed everything in the right side panel and the top corner kept popping off. Now after reading the correct instructions that I downloaded it was alot easier than what I did. Everything stays under the seat and you just trim the battery tray on the front left corner and tie rap to ecm.

 

Yes the PC III will mount under the seat on the ABS bike. On most bikes you do not need to trim the ecm tray. HD routes the harness a couple different ways and most have enough room without trimming. On all of the installs we have done here on the 08 ABS bikes we have only trimmed 3 of them. If anyone needs any help you can contact us at 877-729-4754
