Default How much oil does your bagger use?

My Street Glide has recently burned about 3/4 of a quart in the last 3000 miles. I'm wondering what most baggers use inorder to determine if this is about average.

My '07 SG uses about 8 oz. between changes at 5K intervals. Your oil consumption sounds a bit high, but not nearly enough to get help from HD or any other OEM on a warranty claim. You'd have to use more than 1 qt./1K miles to raise any red flags toward a warranty fix. In your case I wouldn't worry about it, as your consumption isn't excessive enough to cause trouble, although I would like to find out where the oil is going--through the rings, valve seals, or wherever. Do you have any leaks?

When I first noticed that my 07 RKC used any oil was 8 oz. around 5k miles or long riding. I have about 11k on the bike now check the oil the other day noticed the level about the same area when I used 8 oz. So I would guess 8 oz. is average around 5k or so.

Maybe 1/2 quart in 5000 miles. But I have oil seeping from both base gaskets.

My 02 Ultra used a quart in 5000 miles. Had 68,000 when I traded it in. My 08 uses none. I have 18,000 on it. The 08 I broke in a little harder than the 02. That may have something to do with oil consumption. I tried to follow Motoman's break in procedure for the 08 but didn't have the heart to follow 100%.
