ReTune Question
The background on my 2005 Ultra.
At 1000 miles: I had a dealer install 64910-99 SE One Piece Slash Cut mufflers, Stage 1 Air Filter Kit, and Download. It was louder, but seemed kind of sluggish. It might be the loss of back pressure due to the new mufflers.
It might be that noise doesn't always mean power and speed. It had the usual popping and backfiring between shifts and when backing off the throttle coming to a stop. I put up with it for 4000 miles.
At 5000 miles: I had a different dealer, with a reputable dyno tuner, install the SERT and a custom map. The tune got rid of the popping and backfiring and it runs a whole lot better.
I now have about 20,000 miles on it. These mufflers have always had the raspy, tinny, hammering sound from day one. As the miles rolled up, they have gotten increasingly worse. Probably due to the usual burning out from normal use.
I want to change to a true dual setup to get the stereo sound. I hear a lot about Rinehart Duals & Vance and Hines. What do you think? Any other recommendations? What about changing to SE 203 cams at the same time? Will that help torque and low end?
I know I will have to get it tuned again. I have the tuner and also the cable and disc that came with it. I don't have a disc with the custom map. Could it have been copied to the disc that came with the SERT?
Do I have to take it back to the dealer that installed the custom map or can another dealer do the tune?
When the dealer hooks my SERT up to the bike, can they read the custom map that is already programmed or are they only able to reprogram the ECM with a new map? If I hooked the SERT up to the bike, could I make a copy of the custom map myself?
Thanks to All,

The tuner should have given you a copy, you paid for it. You can also go back and ask for it. This map would be a good base map to use with the new mods.
No, you cannot make a copy of the map within the SERT software.
I believe the tuner or dealer can extract a copy of the map from the ECM.

I installed the V&H true duals in February. The quality and fit is top notch. I would recommend them.
The map file cannot be copied to the SERT CD.

No...the tuner or dealer cannot extract a copy of the map from the ECM. The process is overwrite only. I don't understand why HD did it that way.
The best advise on selecting mufflers is to go to different bike meets and listen to them for yourself. That's the only way to know if you will like them. Yes, the V&H true duals are the same size where the mufflers slip on. And IMO, true duals make mufflers sound better.
I've been running the Bassani power curve duels with bassani mufflers on my king and love them. Nice deep rumble, not too loud for all day rideing but you can set off car alarms if you want to. The head pipes are equal length which makes tuneing easier.
I wasn't sure, thanks for confirming.
