Default SG bars?

The bags on my Streetglide seem pretty vulnerable without the protective "crash" bars like my RK had. Have any of you SG owners added the bars to your SG. Did do the install yourselves? I'm really leery about changing the look of this beautiful bike.

thanks,
Mark

Isnt there a bar that just goes in front of the bags, not all the way around like the other Glides? I think would compliment the look of the SG better.

Get the comfort bars. Your wife will thank you.

I added them to my Road Glide for the same reason.

The only HD bars I have found are these.

I looked at the comfort bars but they listed that you have to buy some other bars to go with them and an antenna relocation kit. By the time you add it all up it was over $400. How did you do it?

Yes, you need to buy new saddlebag support bars. I got my crash bars on Ebay new for around $150 and the other parts came in at around $100 I think. FYI, the crash bars are chrome and the supports are black unlike the stock supports that are chrome.

Here are the bars on Ebay for $165 shipped. comfort bars

I bought the support parts from Chicago HD at 20% off.

I just found them for $120 without shipping at Chicago: cheaper bars here

Doing it yourself on a scale of 1-10 1 being easiest its a 1. I also hated to take away from the clean street glide look but everybody drops their bike sooner or later so I put them on but I hid them with HD water bottle bags and they dont look so bad. If you have a vertically challenged passenger the comfort gaurds are better but you can only use the water bottle bags on the regular gaurds.

Funny you should bring this just now. Seen a poor dude lay over his 08 Street Glide yesterday in a parking lot. Kinda made a mess of the left muffler.

I really like the clean lines, but a place for a water bottle would be nice.
