I have a 2005 Electra Glide Classic. I bought it new. After 500 miles I tok the stock exhaust off and put on Samson Rolled Thunder (very loud) and changed the air cleaner and re mapped. This summer I took off the Samson's and put back the stock slip on's.
I have 25,000 miles on these loud pipes and it was wearing me out. I got tired of all the noise. I have about 1000 miles on the stock pipes so far. When I was running the Samson's the bike backfired a lot, without them not at all. The Samson's had about a 1 3/4 hole straight thru, it was like no muffler at all. I think the bike runs better with the stock pipes and I can get on the throttle harder and stay on longer whithout going deaf and scaring the neighbors. The re-map let's my rev limiter to go to about 6400 rmp.
So far, I am happier, but I plan on getting some slip-on's or true duals in the future if I decide on what I might like.
Yeah I'm the same anymore. I logged many thousands of miles with SEII slip-ons on my previous bike and after awhile that noise got on my nerves. I ride daily and all year around and just dont enjoy the noise anymore. The stock pipes on my '09 are just fine by me.
My 08 sounded like ***** farts with the stock pipes. The bike worked too hard in a crosswind and felt out of breath. TDs, SE breather and SERT make it sound and run much stronger. I can hear the stereo just fine until I crank it to pass and there's nothing like warning cagers with the pipes rather than the wimpy little horn.
It's done by the dealer to go with the SE air cleaner it order to maintain the warranty. Richens it up a bit I assume. It does run much stronger particularly at higher revs. And it sounds good, too!

The A/C change will allow more air, ie. leaner...the d/l will bring it back to a 14.5 AFR (which is still too lean) and give you a 6200 redline...that's about it.
On nightrider.com the guy there says if you are just changing your A/C then the stock ecu will note the difference and make the needed changes, so I would try just the A/C and see how she runs. The touring mufflers are already plenty big. They say HD also has the same view go to the site and read for your self even has pictures for those that need them. HA!
