Default Exhaust tone still sounds weak after removing Big Sucker

I put the stock a/c back on after my Big Sucker install apparently did not go well. (see my previous video clip)

Exhaust tone sounds weak...on decel sort of like a pfffft.........not a nice rumble....a weak sound like air being pushed out.....is it possible that if there is an exhaust leak at the clamps that attach at the slipons that the exhaust note would change? Seems to be worse after bike is warm.

I may be changing up the whole exhaust system soon anyways, just wondering if any insight.

Everything seems tight and solid at the a/c but not sure if that could be a contributor to the tone either

Mystery...

I've been following this saga and I really feel for you, Port Dawg.

Have you checked for leaks at the exhaust manifold and the joints at the muffler and cross-over?

Huh? Say it ain't so.

If I were in a similar circumstance, I think I'd go back to stock air, NO outside fuel management and SuperTrapp SE's. If I got it back to sounding the way it did in your first video, then I'd quit there and leave well enough alone - for now.

Been watching this tennis match between you two guys:

since you are having trouble determining what you want- how about going to a bike night and when you see/hear something you like, ask what that set up is.

less expensive than swapping parts- and Dawg are giving up a performance advantage you had with the hi flow air cleaner
( I suggested the ness because I think it's better for the buck and a tidier install- but for a "stage 1" any air cleaner with out restriction will take advantage of the flow in the exhaust tract--
-some guys just take a hole saw to the stock black plastic housing and put some holes in the sides, they may have to tune out whistles-- and they miss out on the air horn which better orders the flow into the throat.

I have stumbled across this issue for myself when I changed my exhaust a few times. If I understand correctly you saying the sound of the aftermarket or stock exhaust does not sound as good as you would like it to. I have been through several different exhaust some sounded ok and some did not. Rinehart and Jackpot were among the best sounding mufflers. But nothing sounded better than those slipons with a cam. This is what dictates you exhaust note. If you want that "knock" or "hammering" sound change your cams. Stock cams just doesn't cut it for anything other than protecting the environment. I don't see how the intake would effect the exhaust note that much.

Well, I actually DO have a course of action in mind. I want new mufflers (SuperTrapp SE's, Jackpot's or Rush).

I am also considering the benefits of a new air kit (AN Big Sucker) and fuel management (Nightrider XiED kit).

In terms of performance, the only other upgrade that I would consider would be new head pipes.

That's it. That's my short list of upgrades. What can I say. I'm a simple guy.
