I have an otherwise stock carbed 88" with S&S 509 cams. Currently has stock air cleaner, stock pipe with old Hooker "tuned flow" slip ons.
If you've been paying attention to my other threads, I got in an accident and now have some fun money to play with and am looking at replacing the exhaust. From what I've read the 509 is a "torque cam" and I've also read that 2 into 1 exhausts are good for torque. I also wouldn't mind something with a little more mellow sound as the Hooker's are quite loud.
I'm looking at the Rinehard 2 into 1 system on Fuel Moto's website and it looks pretty nice. Would you recommend something like this as a good "match" to my cam?
Also would you recommend getting an aftermarket freer-flowing air cleaner to complement the cam and exhaust?
I kind of like the look of the stock football air cleaner. Will swapping in a K&N filter make a significant difference in airflow?
Most of the 2-1 exhausts I have heard are on the loud side too so make sure you know what you're buying. They are a great performing exhaust though. If it were me I would get a good combo of A/C and exhaust to go with your cams and that may also mean rejetting your carb.
I would go supertrapp or fuelmoto they are disc systems and are pretty darn adjustable for power and sound. You also have some options for look but rather limited.
