just new to this post but I have already spent hours looking at it and with a lot of good info.I want to maintain the stock exhaust system, how do I get more power and still maintain the stock exhaust.
You would have to remove the baffles and modify them which requires drilling the back end out to remove them (do a search for drilling exhaust or Gronk mod.). Of course modifying your exhaust or even buying slipons or a hole system will do nothing for power unless you change out the air filter so it will flow more air into the carb. then rejet the carb.
I opted for SEII slipons and SEII air cleaner when I bought my bike as well as rejetting and prbably gained about 12-15% in power and it sounds nicer too.
Lots of options out there but few folks end up keeping their stock exhaust.
Welcome! You'll find all your answers here, do a search for stage 1 and tons of threads will be available to read.Stage 1 opensyour intake and exhaust so your engine breaths better and thereforegains 10 to 15% more HP/TQ. However, you'll have to compromise the stock exhaust note to do so as it generally bottlenecks your engines breathing capability, but most everyone loves the improvedrich, deep, throaty sound...
