I picked up my chrome cover at the dealer today to install on my new SG. It's part # 74543-00 and it's supposed to fit '97 and later touring models. It won't fit between the frame down tubes on my '09 and the holes in the unit don't even line up. Anybody else have this problem? I've installed 4 of these on other HD's and never had a glitch.
I just installed that on my '08. It looked like it didn't want to fit until I removed the nuts and installed the mounting post over the threads and then the cover went right on.
My dealer said that the chrome regulator cover will not fit on the 2009 models as the frame tubes are a larger diameter than the older frames and there is not enough room.I know that the oil cooler has the same problem and they have a new one specifically for the 2009 model.
