Default DYNAMAT Question

I'm about to install a sheet of Dynamat on the inside of my outer fairing in an attemp to lessen some of the harmonic vibration in the fairing that occurs at 1800 rpms on my SG. I also thinking it will enhance the sound of my new Hogtune speakers that I will be installing at the same time.
I have realized that this material has a little weight to it and am wondering if it will affect the handling of the bike since the fairing is attached to the handlebars?
I would like to here from those that have used this product on their ride or that have any experience at all with Dynamat.

Frank

Haven't used it, but I'm sure it won't affect handling. I'm going to do the same thing this winter when I pull the fairing apart. I read a thread on here a short while ago about how good it was, and he provided a website for obtaining it on EBAY. I think it was R-Blox. He said 10sqft would do the total inside of the outer fairing. Let me see if I can find the link.

The weight is minimal with 4 sq ft sheet of Dynamat Extreme under 3 lbs. I did both my inner/outer fairing with under 8sq ft. It will give you a tigher sound and better bass.

Thanks for the link but I was shopping around and went into a car radio shop, started BSing with the owner and before I knew it he went into his shop and gave me a bunch of scraps for free. These pieces are all about 1 foot sq.

I was kinda thinking you have to keep both sides (R & L) equal for balance of the fairing?

Yes with your gauges & radio etc there probably isn't much area to Dynamat on the inner but there is some area small as it may be. I probably have alittle extra area on my Dragonfly vs stock HD fairing.

planning on istalling Dynamat on my Road Glide this weekend too...was thinking of putting a 6x6" of Dynazorb as close to directly behind the speaker as possible which is hard since the r.g. fairing is angeling foreward at that spot... dont really know what to expect

Before you go with the Dynamat, you should consider FireCap's recommendation of Dynaxorb, and NOT Dynamat, in this thread:

Now I am really confused - I just bought "Dynamat Dynaxorb Speaker Sub Back Wave Sound Damping" on EBay a minute ago. It looks like Dynamat makes Dynaxorb? So did I buy the recommended one?

Yes, Dynamat makes Dynaxorb. It looks like the 3D geometric panels you see in sound studios, only smaller.
