I'm tackling the same project so I'll be following this thread. Dynamat is mentioned a lot and is available at Best Buy but several different, knock-offs are also listed on Ebay. Also have to be careful since some Dynamat products are designed to ABSORB sound/vibration and some are designed to ENHANCE it.

I have used Dynamat Extreme in my last 2 cars. Thats designed to stop vibration and and road noise in cars, guessin on a bike it would stop and bass vibration in the fairing, then in theory, transfering it out your speakers. You might want to consider Dynamat along with some speaker baffles.

Those products are to keep sound out, and make body panels in cars heavier and move slower to lower the frequecy at which they move. On our bikes that is a mute point. In the fairing you want to kill the back wave of the speaker. You will be much better off money and sound wise to use Dynaxorb, or extremeliner.

Do Not use the baffles this will kill your sound the speaker has to move and the baffle will kill that. Give Radrid a shout he will tell you what the difference was when I got him to pull them off

Send me a pm if you would like anymore information or help.

in addition to caps thread the use of sound blockers will enhance the bass of your sound system. but be aware you are talking about less than 5 square feet. dynamat is the audio standard but very expensive. i found r-blox on ebay 10 sq. ft for 40$. enough to do 2 fairings. split it with a friend. allowing the speaker waves to move back into the r-blox then forward through the speaker will make a large diff! by using a sound deadener you will slow the vibration of the plastic fairing

Forget the speaker baffles. My loss is your gain. They are bass killers. I have the Dynaxorb mounted behind my speakers.

Hate to spoil everyones parade, but the ONLY way to get "bass" is to add a subwoofer. At best, you can attenuate your "mid-bass" response.

Although I'm just messin' with you guys...it is true.

I had a pair of Rainbow PowerLine CS 275.27 in my truck that can play down to 35hz...still nothing like a subwoofer! And if you are not familiar with those components...all I can say is OMG!!!! I wish they would fit in my SG. LOL

Bry you would never get off the bike if those would fit in the fairing. I know of these dynamo's and you are correct wow. But a sub will not get you bass running down the road on these bikes, if it hits hard enough you will feel it, but wont hear it. All that needs to be done is kill the back wave and the dynamat rblox roadkill wont do that but dynaxorb does. Bry you should listen to the ARC 6000 I would rank them as high as the Rainbows, you better hold on to em coz you cant get those anymore.

I do agree that you can not hear bass cruising down the road on our bikes with a subwoofer, but it is still only mid-bass frequencies that components produce...not "bass". The dynaxorb or other product only attenuates the mid-bass response...it does not create bass. You know as well as I do...cut-off, roll-off on the lower end is usually set no higher than 80hz down to 63hz and lower like 40 or 50 with hardcore individuals with drivers that can handle it.

As far as the PowerLines CS...no I don't have them anymore but, yes...I can still get them (at an awesome price).

BTW, I don't know if you saw my other post, but I'm buying an '09 SG this month and selling my '08. Everything goes with my '08 so I will need another Arc mini...can you pm me your price for one. It's the only thing I can't get anymore...by buddy use to be a dealer but had a falling out with the local Arc rep. Thanks.
