Default Flhrc vs. Flstc

I'm a new rider... been riding since the beginning of this season on an XL883C. VERY fun bike, but I am looking for something a little more stable on the highway, and that has bags, so I can run errands, etc. While still a rookie, I would say I have taken to riding pretty well. I have ridden both the FLHRC and FLSTC and like them both... riding position on the flstc is more comfortable, but the RKC rides great (would probably have to swap out the handle bars, and maybe seat... any suggestions? I hear the Heritage Police Bars are the way to go... anything else)

I won't be doing a lot of super long trips at this point, mostly local riding. But, again, I'd like to feel comfortable on the highway.

Given I'm posting this in the "touring" section, I am expecting that the RKC will get the nod, but any objective opinions would be welcome. One of the many things I like about the RKC is the ABS option.

stats: 35 year old male; 6'1", 215lbs. (strong); 32-33 inch inseam

thanks for havin' me

ride a RG and an Ultra -- before you buy -- RKC IMHO is the best looking stock bike HD makes but the storage options and music on the two that I mentioned cannot be beat -- you can practically go grocery shopping on the Ultra

I just put a deposit down on a '09 RKC and can't wait for it to be delivered.

Go with the FLHRC...you'll be glad you did & won't wanna ride anything else! Just put those Heritage Style bars on mine too. I'm 5'11 & they fit me PERFECT! Very comfortable & give you a little bit of that mini-ape feel too. Here's a couple of pics...

I agree about the looks of the RKC... they are just beautiful. For some reason, they look even better parked outside, than inside a showroom. I guess they kind of get lost amidst the other dozens of bikes in the showroom. In any case, the classic look of that bike is big factor in me liking it so much.

At this point, the Ultra is a little too much for me. I like the looks of the RG, but am just not into fairings, at this point. I entertained the idea of getting a SG, for a short time, but really prefer the leaner look of the RKC.

regards,
Drew

No real question here. You know the answer. That's why you posted in Touring...You're looking for justification to go to the "KING"... Well, here it is! Go for it. You won't regret it, and as time passes, you'll be on to the Glide, Ultra, or something else that provides the tunes and protection that we've all come to know and love. Good Luck. Yes on the bars and seat. Chubby Wild Ones and a Corbin seat on my Ultra King Glide....

Go with the KING. It's the naked touring bike. You can turn it into any of the others if you decide to later. I have a Road King Classic and I bought hard bags, fairing lowers, Tour Pak, and a fairing for it. It'll be just like an Ultra when I'm done with it. The upside to doin' all that to a Road King is that you can take all the stuff off because it's all detachable. You can't do that with the other touring bikes. It's a little more expensive to do that to a Road King than just buyin' one of the bikes, but it gives a lot more options of how you want to ride. Stripped down, all dressed up, or anywhere in between.

You know you want a RKC. I mean, just look at my signature picture...best bike on earth....I am a bit biased though. If nothing else get it for the ABS, worth its weight in unubtainium. DO IT!!
