I just put chrome lowers and Progressive lowering springs to lower it one inch, and heavier oil (20w) on a 2008 Ultra Classic. It is bottoming out and popping on extreme front braking, and when I hit a big bump in the road. The suspension is stiffer which is what I like, but why is it bottoming put so easy?
-1" isn't going to make it bottom out.
Did you put the correct amount of oil in the tubes?
You didn't leave your emulators out?
Did you cut your pre-load spacers correctly?
Thanks for the info. I took them apart and had a local shop install the springs and oil. I guess I will take it back to them.
Wait a sec.
When you re-installed the forks, did you put the black rubber fork stops above or below the lower triple tree?
Regarding taking the forks back...I believe I'd tear into them and have a look myself. Make sure they did their job properly and didn't leave anything out.
Fork jobs are simple. You should be able to do these yourself if you have a manual. Taking the forks off is half the battle.
