Wanted to give a quick report.
Removed my S&S 585 gear drive cams and installed the S&S 570. My riding style doesn't mesh with the 585 cam. Dropped in all 4 new bearings & new Jim's Powerglide lifters.
I have no dyno runs as of yet to report the HP/TQ differences. Soon as I get that I'll chime in with the numbers.
I will say, after about 400 miles of riding, I like the 570's a lot better. Rolling on the throttle in 6th gear at 2600 RPM, the motor just pulls right on out.
Definitely a smoother cam, for me.
My biggest complaint with the 585 was, to use 6th gear and have the power there if I needed it, I'd be running 85 mph. That's not my riding style.
Using 6th gear with the 570 cam and having the power there, I was cruising about 75 mph...which is about as fast as I like to cruise.
Anyway, I'll chime in with more feedback as soon as I get some more seat time and a dyno run.
BadPiggy, thats the info Ive been waiting for. I am having the sasme problems with the 585. Look forward to seeing your dyno curve. You feel you have more TQ on the lower end??

Yes. The bike pulls really nice.
The 585's, you just had to wind the hell out of it to get it to go. If I wasn't running 3000 RPM, it was a slug.
I really like the way this cam pulls.
I'll have Dyno info later this week.

Im glad you got the results you were looking for. I am going to look very seriously at the 570 in the next couple of weeks. I know what you mean about having to run high RPMs with the 585. Thanks very much for the update.
