i have been reading my HD manual as my guide for tearing down my primary. I am replacing my drive belt , Clutches, etc.
I have all inner bolts out of the chain case. 2 outer bolts at the front, 2 starter bolts out from the right side, bendix is out. I have been gently tapping the case from the right side of the bike with no luck.
the only part not removed is the tensioner bracket with the 2 phyllips screws & the big tin cover that was under the compensator which sais do not hit.
I can not get the case to pop loose. Is there anything that I am missing?
Thanks! Hatch.
You betcha. I put a wheel puller on it and off it came. i also pulled the keyway key out of the way. Im going out for another look for a possible hidden bolt from the right side. I dont want to crack the case so Im a lil gun shy with the slappin part!
How many bolts hold the starter from the right side?

2 bolts hold the starter.
Did you remove the starter pinion?
Got er off. One bolt at the bottom accessed from under the bike at the bottom. Now the right side exhaust & the swing arm comes off. All this just for a new rubber band!
Im glad they last a long time!!
