[QUOTE=oldhippie;4083567]You are supposed to drain the oil while on the jiffy stand. Transmission oil too.
QUOTE]
There is no place in my owner's manual or service manual where that is stated. As the tranny plug is on the right side of the pan, and the bike leans to the left on the side stand, I would think that would NOT be the way to do it.
The jiffy stand is only mentioned when filling the engine, chaincase, or tranny, and whether the bike should be on it or not to check oil level depends on what you are filling and what year your bike is.
Stay away from that aluminium Craftsman jack it is a piece of crap compared to the red jack. I bought one and used it once and took it back, I couldn't believe Craftsman would put there name on that thing.
I used the chock/stand from my trailer. It's designed to be used in the garage as well. Check out the site...it gives you a few ideas. When strapping the bars down, i made sure not to take out to much of the travel in the forks so I can keep the bike level. I would have liked to have a little more space underneith the pan though. Found a low profile and wide drain pan that let me get my arm through. http://www.slikstuff.com/
