Im looking at 09 Road glide I like what I see except for the new throttle control. I have read where there seems to be dead spots on take off where the bike won't take off like it should. I guss it needs a tuner to set the throttle control, any one experiencing this?
I have 1200 miles on my 09 and I haven't had any problems. The only difference that I noticed between my 07 and the 09 was during slow speed manuvers. If I am doing anything that requires a little throttle / rear brake application I have learned that I need to keep the throttle under a slight load instead of rolling completely off and then trying to roll on. It seems to have a very slight lag that the 07 didn't have, so it requires some "preload". I hope my description makes sense. It is a very minor issue and only took a small adjustment on my part and it may not be that way on all of the fly by wire bikes.
Approaching 1000 miles and I like it. Is it "different"? Sure it is but
that doesn't make it bad. Remember when ECM's & FI became the norm
in the mid eighties on automobiles? Naysayers were badmouthing anything
that didn't have a carb on it! Same thing's happening now.
Besides that who likes all those cables hanging out there anyway?
09 FLTR here and I notice no lag. What I think I notice though is the 09 TBW control is easier, meaning that older bikes with a throttle cable had a little more "feel" to them in the way of tension. It's darned easy to roll the TBW throttle and makes it a little more important to have your hand positioned correctly in case you accidentally pull on the bars, like when hitting a bump in the road. But as far as a lag? I can't say I notice any...
My 08 EGC with 15000 miles on it is a s smooth as silk. NEVER any issue with it. That said because you are not pulling a cable there is a slightly different feel to it. Kind of just the spring in the grip to close it. But it is very sensitve to speed changes and it takes a few miles to get use to it. I like it better then cables....JUST read the owners manual about it as there are a few things that you shown know.
