Default It rained last night

It rained just enough to get the roads wet. That caused the oil from the asphault to come up and man was is slick. My tires did not slip (much) but when I came to a light and put my feet down I almost went down a couple of times cause my combat boots did not grip. It was like standing on ice.

you have to be very, very carefull when it begins to rain -- misting is even worse -- I usually put both feet down with a little brake and cruise to the stop sign/light. An even application of throttle or brake is what works for me -- and most importantly I stay out of the middle of the road where most of the oil is.

This time of year we (in So. Calif.) are getting the first rains in about 6 months and the streets and freeways are very slick from mixing with accumulated oil. Other things to watch are thin layers of mud made by deposited dust at the edges of concrete gutters. Also the trees are now shedding some leaves which can be real slippery -- especially so when mixed with water.

true "and watch the painted lines" probably worse than the oil deposits in the street

...also watch out for areas where dirt roads meet pavement. Dirt and dust that settle on the paved road (from cars entering the pavement from the dirt road or driveway) are slippery - more so when wet.

I agree those lines are very slick. Especially the ones that aren't really "paint" anymore but like a plastic they use around here. Very slick (don't ask how I know)...
