Default Another SG vs. EGS question

Hi, I am in the market for a '09 Touring Model, I presently have a deposit on a SG, but have always liked the EGS. Strictly from a radio stand point...is it more economical to purchase the EGS and then shop for an aftermarket or HD radio or is the radio which comes standard on the SG sufficient. Does the EGS come equip with speakers?
Do folks normally upgrade the radio in their SG or stick with the stock radio. Can the stock radio be adapted to accept an ipod.

Thanks in advance,
Mat.

I'm happy with thr radio in my StreetGlide. I would definately recommend upgrading the speakers. It sounds much better with them. I use my MP3 player all the time. There is a port in the stock radio for it.
Also, being able to control the radio on the handlebar is nice. Not sure how that will be done with an aftermarket stereo.

I'm satisfied (for now) with the factory system on my 09, from what I've read it seems to be far better than what used to be OEM. That being said, it is OE so it's certainly not high end. I will be upgrading to an ARC mini amp & speakers some time in the future but will leave the head unit OE. I think they look better in the dash, the aftermarket head unit's look...well...aftermarket, plus I like having the handlebar controls.
And no, the EGS has no speakers therefore I assume no handlebar controls/wiring. Something to consider.

Default I got mine

I got mine from Harley and had the dealer put it in my EGS along with the fairing mounted inner antenna which picks up stations well.I had the controlls already on my handlebars which was nice.I got it all done for a little more than 900.00 bucks and am well pleased so far.08 EGS

Have you considered a EGC?
You can get aftermarket stereo, controls for the bars, antennas and speakers.
I haven't checked recently but if I remember correctly about $400-600 should get you a system that sounds much better than stock.
