If your insurance says, totaled You might have a couple of options. First, do you want to keep the bike?
Most Ins. Companies offer to sell the bike back to you with a salvaged title attached. See what they offer and that might help in your decision. I once replaced the frame on a bike. The Company is very particular on how much down tube is needed (with the neck). Check with them so you do not screw it up. Once they receive the neck, you get a new frame in about 10 days.
Think twice about going this route, salvaged titles are a bitch in my state(California) with the DMV.
Sorry to hear about this, Hope your ok. I agree with Rich with that new of a bike I wouldn't owner retain because you will have the "salvage" title. Plus if you kept the bike and found other damage you are on your own once the insurance company settles on a total loss they are done.
Bent the the neck of my 02 RoadKing two years ago and they totaled it ,said frame was tweaked. I actually rode the bike home and thought it was just cosmetic damages, but when a frame gets damaged....it is almost always totalled. Insurance came through for me....brought the bike used for 12,900. Insurance gave me 15,200. for it because cost of the extra goodies on it chrome adds added up. Take the money and run. My insurance rate only went up less than 50.00 the next year after the accident. I would have thought my rate would have really skyrocketed up. They even brought me a new helmet and ask if my Jacket got ruined. The Insurance company was great, and very fair and fast...it was Progressive. After the estimate of damges they delivered me a check within two weeks. Glad your Ok, after a wreck it sure makes you a little leary about riding again, but make sure you do. Best of Luck.

Reason: mis spelled word
I just went through a $10.5k accident claim on an 08 Heritage.
I had to keep on the adjuster's ***. Once I started calling EVERYBODY that I could think of, and had a Harley dealer's estimate in hand... I got the check.
My bike was PURE cosmetic, but I traded it in wrecked.
I think frame kills it and it should be more than $11k damage when done.
My thoughts for you..... get out the grease...
But, I came out about like you. THAT, I was VERY grateful for.
MY biggest fear at this time of year is also hitting a deer (in Ohio with 600,000 damn things in state).
Got screwed by body shop on a Lightning, when I hit a deer in that.
I simply HATE deer.

Just totaled my 2004 Road King on Oct 11th. Car didn't even slow down exiting a driveway on to the highway. Got upset that I was going too fast and she couldn't back up in time. Skidded 77 feet and tumbled another 43. That's 40 yards at 60 mph. She would of had to have backed up pretty fast. Ended up under the front of her car. 5 fractured ribs, collapsed lung and bruised from head to toe. Wife has fractured foot, fractured rib and concussion. Looking at the helmets afterward it was evident they saved both our lifes. Bike's frame was bent and therefore totalled. Claims Rep said the frame was $4,400 plus 20 hours labor. Good words about Progressive.
Went through the same thing, ironically 3 years ago today. Hit a deer, laid it down hard and bent the frame. Had Progressive and everything went very smoothly.
Glad to hear you are OK, the bike can be replaced!
