Default Is it worth doing cams on a 96"

08 Ultra w/ V&H Oval Slip Ons
I am going to have Jamie set up a PCIII and A/C
I would like to go with some sort of 103"
But I am not ready to go all the way right now
So is worth it or a waste to do cams on a 96" motor

yes, I think so...I believe the stock cams are tree-hugger ruined...a set of se204 cams will improve performance and help your bike run cooler...I've seen jamie's article saying how he doesn't believe it's worth changing cams in an otherwise stock motor...I disagree because his charts that he offers as proof only show peak numbers...the real difference is felt in the seat of the pants, throttle response, and quicker revving

Default Cams

If it matters to you the first thing that will go away is your warranty if you do just the cams. If you do a screaming eagle 103 or 110 kit installed by the dealer the warranty will remain intact. I went round and round with this and asked a million questions. It came down to warranty now cams later or 103 kit now. As it turned out I spent the money else where. Maybe later I'll think about it.

Harley makes a "Kit" that is only the Screaming Eagle 255 cam "550" lift with the 103 jugs and pistons for 775 dollars.

Makes the thing pull great, sound better, and it is still under warrantee.

My dealer was having a 20% off on their parts and labor so I jumped. Man, am I ever glad. Totally different bike!!!

I am thinking about doing cams only myself, but it's going to cost me about $500 for parts and do the labor myself. My local HD dealer has a special right now for $1098 for the Stage II 103 installed which includes the 255 cams and SE air cleaner which I already have, they said the could knock off the price of the AC which would make the 103 around $958 + tax. I can change the cams myself but for another 450-500 bucks I think I'd rather get the 103 and if anything goes wrong it's their baby. I like the sound of other cams I have read about but there's alot of happy people with the 103 kit, I haven't heard one bad thing about it.
