the link below is where you can get the Rod Ends and the rod to replace your shift link if you experienced the pre-mature failure of the stock one. I ordered two rod end, a RH and LH a 11" rod. to Install it I visited the dealership and go the bolts and washer to install. Of course the foot lever end requires a nut and bolt and the trans end screw into the lever. I got the bolts longer to have the machined part of the bolt through the bearing part then cut to desire size. no photos just yet. http://www.boomerangracing.com/

The stock rod takes only RH thread ,female rod ends (heim joints).

One this that has made me wonder as to why Harley puts R/H threads on both ends. A proper linkage like this is suppose to have a left and right hand thread so you can just rotate the rod to change the length.

Harley sells heim joint ends #33871-85B. Mine cost $10.00 apiece. They're both RH thread, just measure the rods original length and screw them on to the old rod, after removing the ball joints, to achieve the same length. You'll also need a 5/16-20 x 1' bolt in the rear joint and use a little blue loctite, Too cheap not to do considering how cheesy the stock ball joints are.
For the RH/LH rod end with jam nut and the 11'" rod was 15.00 the hardware, two chrome bolts, 2 washer and 1 lock washer was 5.00 at the HD dealer. My old shift linkage was still good now it is my spare in the event this one does not hold up.
I did the heim joint mod to mine,it seems to work good, but the rod stays kind of stiff, does not rotate easily back and forth,my friends does ,is this a issue?
