Thanks for the compliment. You RKC looks nice also. Do you change the bags often? I've thought about finding a used set of bags.
My '01 RK has 22000 miles, 6000 in the last 8 months. I'm easy on it all the time, but my rear tire is shot after only 8000+/- miles. I think it needs the rear aligned because I get some vibration after 55 mph. Since I mostly ride short trips, and my office ride is only 20 miles round trip, I don't get over 60mph much at all. (As long as I get my laptop in the hardbag, I'm okay. Clients don't fit though!!) I'm on my second tire so I'm happy about that.
Now I'm getting a drip that I think is from the trans main shaft (?), as I had this problem about 3500 miles ago. Or the trans was overfilled at the 20K. My crazy thoughts are that the mis-alignment on the rear is wearing out the tire and causing the belt to have a bad effect on the shaft. The last time this drip was fixed at the dealer, the belt snapped on the srvice techs run out after his work. Odd?!?
That's a lot and congrads. Hope you signed up for the HOG milage program. It's kinda fun to get to the 100k and then 200k pins etc. I avg 12-14k a year and can't get much over 7k on the Dunlop rear so I finnaly switched to Avon Venoms and like the feel better but only have 2k on them. UT offers some great rides and if your ever around Salt Lake City get in touch.
Yachtman, I got about 15k miles from my rear tire and replaced the front at 20k. My daily commute to church is 76 miles roundtrip, mostly expressway, and I think that contributes to longer tire life since I am not accelerating or braking as much as the typical ride. Same goes for the brake pads - at 22k miles, they still have some life left in them.
Besides my daily commute (of which I probably average 3 or 4 days each week), I try to squeeze in a day trip or two during the weekend, about a dozen overnighters each year, and a few week-long trips of 1500 miles or so.
thats some good riding... im at 41,000 in just 26 months... nothing wrong, keep loggin em on...
My 08's birthday was 10-24-08 {made my dealer sing happy birthday to her} 1 year old.
22,000 miles on her.
I just use this bike on the weekends, all my weekday riding in on my bobber. {14,000 miles this year}
Anyone want to buy a couple of used cars, low miles, only used in the rain......
I had an Uncle Charles that was a pastor and also rode a Harley. He sometimes wore a T-shirt that said "On the Eighth day God created the Harley". Cool guy, I miss him.
