I find that standing up, straddling the saddle, gives me more control when she gets on. That's also her signal to get on. My lady then puts her hand on my left shoulder, steps on her floorboard, and swings her right leg over. We both take a couple of seconds to get settled in, and she always gives me the courtesy of letting me know she's ready.

Budda96 has got us pegged. Found that out while facing down hill one time. She said it was easier so now I lean forward. That is her cue that I am ready. The biggest problem I have seen is on dressers with saddle bag guard rails ( dresser bars, bag guards). The floorboard is so far forward of the rear seat, actually directly under the riders but. Combine that with the rails that make her leg have to be vertical from the knee down, ( ie don't give her for & aft flexibility)that the passenger has to make a controlled & accurate lunge on & off. With my FXRD the pass boards were more in line with the rear seat so she could step straight up & take her time getting her leg over, once she had centered her weight over the bike center line.

My wife is doing great!! I get the bike ready to roll, get her floor boards down and I position her Kury adjustable pegs forward so after she gets on, I reach down and pull the pegs backward until they lock..she uses the left side of the bike, puts her hand around my upper arm or shoulder, (next step is important) she puts her left foot on floor boad, and PUSHES off with her right leg and puts her right leg THRU the seat opening, not over or around the backrest..and comes to a nice seating position...the importatn part PUSHES off w/right leg, that avoids her fromusing a lot of left legto get up which in turn, does not rock the bike and my foot may slip in gravel, oily surfaces...she has gotten real good at it that sometimes I would not have to hold on to the bars...when she exits, most of the time I get off and she just turns her body to the left and brings her right leg over my seat and she can slide right off...............................wow, this sounds like a useless "Instruction Manual".LOL
Hope this may help..
ride on, ride a lot

Well, I am resurecting this thread. My wife is 47 and a bit overweight. I had used the get on the bike first and hold it upright method with the kickstand UP. It had been working. Today, she took FOREVER getting on and pulled the bike over. Nobody, or the bike, was hurt at all, but it upset her. Afterward, I was playing around with different methods, and it would appear that a lot of you leave the kickstand DOWN and let your wife get on after you. What I was thinking was to have my wife mount the bike as the driver, with the stand down. Then she would scoot up to the back seat THEN I would mount and pick up the bike and go.

Several in this thread indicated the kickstand can take a lot. Well, I was up there today TRYING to dump the bike off the stand and could not, so I assume this is a pretty good procedure. So, does anybody do this for mounting? To be honest, I have seen a lot of women a lot bigger than my wife on the back of Ultras, so I am sure others have dealt with this. Any help is appreciated.

Ed

I read the subject line of "Passenger Mounting" and, well....
I immediately think, "from the rear"
&nbsp\\;
Then I read the thread and its about mounting a bike.
&nbsp\\;
I got SOOOO excited, thinking..."FINALLY...some ****!"
