About a year ago I installed Fuel Moto's custom baffles to the Rush mufflers, and that was a quantum leap in both sound quality and performance. Gone was the raspy bark, the tone was much better, and the overall sound was the perfect balance of deep rumble and moderate loudness. What was even more apparent was the performance increase using Jamie's PCIII map.
If I was settled on buying Rush mufflers, I would instead buy the Fuel Moto Jackpots, which are functionally identical and already have the custom baffles installed. If you must have Rush, buy them and install the custom baffles for $99, although IMO that's a waste of money unless Jamie will sell you the mufflers with the custom baffles already installed. I would also strongly advise buying the Power Package, which includes the mufflers, AC, PCIII, and map.
As for the OP's question about performance vis-a-vis baffle size, you can figure higher HP and TQ shift upward (less low-end) as the baffle size increases, given a proper EFI map. For me, low-end TQ is much more important than peak HP, as I am on the low-end much more than the top, so I would gravitate toward a smaller baffle size for this reason plus lower noise level. Check out the dyno chart here to see what can be done with these mufflers. Note the excellent low-end characteristics that rival or equal a 2-into-1 setup.
nice sound, deep and throaty but not overly loud.
I can still hear the music at above posted speeds.....
I also have the SE heavy duty breather and a
set of XIED's.
I wasn't looking for any more performance from my RG,
just a better bark than stock.....and the 2" baffles
fit the bill
