Not that I enjoy giving money to HD, I just can't understand why someone would attach one of these tuners to their bike rather than dynoing their bike and flashing the ECM with the correct codes.
These forums are a prime example of why I want to use a tuner that I can change as needed without shelling out $$$$. Every time I think I'm satisfied with my bike's performance somebody reports something better, more bitchin' or (only rarely, of course) I actually have money to make the next upgrade.
My bike had a PCIII and Rienhart Tru-Duals before the bike ever left the dealership. I find it hard to believe that they could sell me a 5 year warranty that was voided before I took ownership of the bike. They have done warranty work since I bought it - no problem.

And as long as nobody modifies the tune that they installed, you're good-to-go. It's not that every aftermarket tune voids a warranty, it's the guys with laptops adjusting fuel tables/timing/injector pulse width/etc. that think they're tuners. If they blow it up, and take it in to HD, and HD checks, it's their nickel.
That is INCORRECT. Magnuson-Moss basically refers to the fact that a motor vehicle maker cannot force you to use their name brand OEM parts only on their vehicles to keep the Warranty in tact. Magnuson-Moss mainly is referring to such PM items as oil, oil filters, air filters and many other items.
"HOWEVER, when you add a device that changes or alters the vehicles ECM or Computer to make the engine preform in a manner other than factory specs which is exactly what Tuners and Programmers are designed to do, that can in fact Void the entire engine/drivetrain Warranty and most all do."
Under that second statement a SERT or SEST voids your warranty as well but do you don't see HD doing that.

Can you show me where it states that in the M/M Act? Here's a link -
I will tell you, I asked my dealer about an aftermarket fuel management system and they stated "Any aftermarket system will show up on the ECM and will void the warranty" He did give me a price on the SERT and said it would not void the warranty? Does $550 sound bad? It does include a dyno through all ranges.
Think about it...if some yo-yo thinks he's a tuner and smokes the engine while adjusting his tune, or if an aftermarket tune is wrong and blows the engine-how is that HD's responsibility?
BTW, they can tell pretty easily if you have ever modified the tune.
Thats NOT HD's responsibility. But they cannot void your warranty just because you add something to your bike. If there is a failure CAUSED by your aftermarket part, then yes, they will not and are not required to cover it. But if you put a dynojet tuner on your bike, and your Oil pump fails, how is that YOUR fault for having a tuner? That's like saying, I rejetted my bike, but by speedo stopped working, were sorry, your warranty is void... THATS what the law protects you from.
If you toast your motor because of non hd parts thats on you. but if you have a legit failure that has nothing to to with your aftermarket parts, they cannot deny your warranty.

You're correct, I never suggested otherwise.
But, think about this: What if your new "tune" causes detonation you can't hear, and shatters an oil pump gear? [seen it happen more than once]
