My local dealer had a big 20% off after hours sale tonight. I went by and got mirrors, grips, the skull collection fender tips and a smoked LED tail light. Well first of all, the fender tip kind of sucks because you can only buy them in pairs (red and amber) but the 09 RK doesn't have one in the rear. Then I get home and even though the accessories book says the part number for the tail light is correct, it isn't. This is the second tail light accessory that the book lists that won't work on my bike. The licence plate on my RK is under the tail light. All of the accessories have the licence plate light or a cut out for it on top of the tail light. I guess I need one for a SE RK or another scoot that has the plate relocated....
I've learned that the book is not always right and a good parts guy usually is.
Check out Kuryakyn's lighted tip... I have not installed it yet, but it is really nice.
yeah, I am going back today. funny thing about what jcpba said, after I posted I looked in the book. The part guy said it was the right one, he looked in the book. Not only was he wrong, but I am not sure he reads so good. I had the right one, I took all my parts to the counter and asked him to double check my part numbers, he switched the tail lights out. I hope after that sale they still have the right one on stock. Other than the reflectors on my saddle bag latches, the tail light is the last bit of color on my bike except for the little bit of amber that shows through the skull fender tip lens....speaking of, if anyone needs a red one for the rear, I have one
Ship on line at www.zanottimotor.com and you'll get 20% off all the time. Good dealer to buy from. A+
I have seen that site, I have ordered from Chicago HD, which is also 20% off. I figured last night would be good since I wouldn't have to wait on shipping. I got the last few things I wanted for the handle bar swap (grips and mirrors) and the tail light. The only thing I wanted that I didn't get was the bullet turn signal kit. The 20% off was only on items in stock. Plus, my dealer here has a rewards card. It ends up being about a 12.5% return on your money. Right now if I redeemed my points, I could get a $250 gift card. If I spend another $500, It will go up to $325....
