I'm learning patience!
Got the throttle side done. It's together but not completely installed - the chrome master cylinder hasn't arrived yet. I'll finish it up when that comes in.
Just sitting here, having a beer, putting band-aids on my hands, psyching myself up to do the clutch side. I find that big fat Polack sausage fingers are not cut out for this work.
The switch caps aren't as hard to do as I was told. There's a bit of a knack to it, but if you try it the way the instructions tell you, they go on pretty easily. This job would be much easier without the auxilliary controls (cruise, CB, etc). Packing all the wiring, etc back into the new switches is the worst part.
I have found that re-installing the throttle cables on any HD are way easier, for some reason, than on any crotch rocket I have worked on.
*sigh*
Well; here goes the other side.

So, the moral of the story is do it yourself and have a lot of patience.
I seem to have hit a snag. I believe I have royally screwed something up. I checked for kinked wires, etc. Nothing. Now. Brake lever & clutch lever are completely unattached from the bike, so both plungers on either side (brake switch & clutch override switch) are not depressed.
I turn the ignition on, and the bike fires up immediately, without my touching the starter switch. Kill switch works. Starter switch appears to be working fine and is installed correctly.
Any idea what I did? I've got to think this one out.
All other switches work - signals, etc. Why the hell does the bike instantly fire up when I turn the ignition on?
