Default Street Glide Fairing Mirrors Removal ?

Has anyone removed the Fairing Mounted Mirrors from their Street Glide? If so, how and what did they use to plug the holes? I'm running 13" Paul Yaffe Apes and they really hamper the view of the fairing mounted mirrors. I really don't want to remove the inner fairing and have it repainted. I had it painted gloss black at time of purchase and over looked the possibility of having a mirror view issue with the apes. Actually I thought they would reach above the mirrors enough that there would be no problem... WRONG. lol

You have to take off the outer fairing to get to the nuts holding the mirrors. I believe you can get the plugs for the holes from Lowe's. Check in the search section for options.

Be creative and put something chrome in the holes...or should I say use the holes to attach something chrome.

I've seen a picture of somebody who mounted tweeter speakers in the mirror holes but I forget who.

Have a friend who used bondo and re-painted his. Can't even tell.

Thanks for the replys. I just saw a SG built and owned by Eddy Trotta on E-Bay and he had plugged his fairing mirror mount holes with one plug that covered both holes which did a real clean job. I messaged him asking about this, but as of yet there has been no reply.
As for the plugging them with something chrome... That would be a good idea in most applications, but my SG is totally blacked out. I'm sure I will plug them with some type of hole plug, just wondering what some people have actually used to do this. Again thanks for the replies.

I bought plugs at Lowes, but my inner is not painted. The plugs are a little to small. I got a 3/8 and a 3/16. 1/2" and 1/4 are to big. I wrapped the plug with teflon tape to make them fit. Kinda tedious but it works and the color match is near perfect.
I would be very interested in the single plug that will cover both holes, I couldn't find one. I actually bought one that is to small. I'm also shopping around for speakers to do the tweeter idea.

Bought my plugs at home depot. I forget what size I used but they fit perfect and are hardly noticable. I remember buying multiple sizes since I didn't know what would fit. One of these days I'll pos a new sig pic, my bike has a number of changes since this pic was taken.
