Myrtle Beach
i'm not a big crowd kinda person so my opinion may be a little skewed, but i just don't understand the 'don't let them win' kind of attitude. they may 'win' what they wanted, which was keeping bikers out, but in the long run, they will lose. if you take the rallies and go somewhere else, then when they figured out that they actually lost, it will be much harder for them to attract it back.
i'm a stubborn enough sumbitch that if you show me you don't want me around, i'm not gonna hang around by your back porch until you figure out that, hey, having me around wasn't quite so bad. so when you decided to unlock the back door, it won't do any good, cause i'll be 3 states away and won't notice. but i'll still be having a good ole time! sucks to be you. this is a big country, and there's lots of nice places to go. and there are a lot of little towns, struggling to make it in this (or any) economy that would love to have some of your money coming in. don't be a lemming, start a new tradition, myrtle beach started once, who says it has to continue?

We went down for the fall fest and rented in N Myrtle Beach. We still had Barefoot and SBB withoug even going into MB. From what a few locals told us, it's not bike week that causes problems for the city, it's the next bike week that follows it. Much damage, crime, leaving restaurants without paying and the usual stuff that happens at those sort of gatherings. Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you, Two Dogs Screwing?
The way they win is to pass a bunch of crap laws and people still go there and spend money. Let them design their bubble and live in it. Seek other places to go where you are not only welcome but wanted. There are plenty on mom and pops that not only want you and need you but love to see you.
i just prefer places where i can have a good time without having to worry about being hassled. if i'm doing someone a favor, and they return it by trying to keep me away, then fine, i'll go elsewhere. like captjon says, 'let them live in their bubble'...
now, where you will see me getting uppity, is if they try to do something stupid like completely outlawing bikes in town, period. okay, you may not want me and several thousand of my closest friends in town all at one time, i can understand that. but if i just happen to be riding through and get hassled for no reason. then i have a serious issue with that.
but if it truly were about 'me and 1000s of fellow riders', then it truly wouldn't matter if it were myrtle beach, or some podunk little hole in the wall town 50 miles either direction would it? can you understand dat?!
Just to clarify all the new rules and regulations the great city of MB has imposed to drive away business, you can visit the posted web site. I love politicians.....
