Default Big Bore Question

What does the dealer do to the heads on a Twin Cam, if a 95" Big Bore kit is installed?
If the bike is brand new, I would think nothing would need to be done them.
But if a 95" Big Bore kit is installed on a bike that has 23,000+ miles on it, does the dealer rework them or just put them back on?
Thanks,
magnoliarunner

They might not do anything and just reinstall them. Or they could port and polish them for better air flow but that costs extra. Its up to you.

If you're talking a harley dealer then they try and talk you into a set of SE heads, an SE cam that compliments the build and a dyno tune

If you have the money I would get the heads reworked because it could be the best bang for the buck. MOCO design hasn't changed much I guess because of EPA req. I've hear Short Block Charlie does great work and reasonable, 800-597-0922.

I wouldn't use SBC! Depend's how far of a build you do. If using flattop pistons, the heads will not benefit as much. Carl at Lakeshore HD does a great job for mild build by installing SE intake valves, different springs and nice port work. The price is the cheapest you can find for the quality work. If you are getting agressive go with T-Man. A good set of heads can add 5-10hp to a 95" build. With stock heads you will max in power around 90 horse.

I used SBC back in 2000 for a 95" fat boy build.. it was a solid 105hp 102tq motor, had no complaints
