traded in my beloved 06 RK custom on a 09 streetglide.
I absolutly love this bike. I would recommend it to anyone. If you can make the payments, get one. I got about 1000 miles on mine in bone stock condition and I noticed a few things.
#1, the stock seat is junk. That's gotta go.
#2, this bike has the best exhaust sound of any stock harley bagger I have ever heard. Its just needs to be a touch louder to be perfect. Rineharts mufflers are on the way.
#3 brakes are phenominal
#4 dont fear the Throttle By Wire. cars have had TBW since the early 90's and there hasent been one documented case of a car with TBW going out of control with full throttle. Triple redundancy is the norm, and harley follows suit.
#5 the ride of the SG is pretty jarring over sharp bumps, but I think some of that is the seat, too. On any other surface, it is a jewel.
#6 a radio with good tunes makes a ride SOOOOoo much better.
I talked to a tech and a parts guy at the local dealership about their 09's Sat.They are disappointed that they still have the " wobble thing" going on.
I bought mine at Biketoberfest. I have thoroughly enjoyed it since then. I agree that the OEM seat is terrible, so I had a Sundowner put on as part of the deal as well as the Rush slip-ons. In addition to the mods in my signature, I have an Arlen Ness Stage 2 air cleaner and Vance & Hines Fuelpak to be added as well. Great bike!
I have one and really like it. If finances allow, I would like to either have the seat customized or buy a new one. The upgrade I would most like is some Khrome Werks handlebars, but I don't really want to have to get rid of the fairing mounted mirrors.
I have had my 09 Pewter Denim SG for a couple months now and have put about 4000 on it. (Has ABS, cruise, security)
Overall, it has been a fantastic bike and a lot of fun to ride. Handles wonderfully...and this is my first HD after owning many sportbikes.
As mentioned by the others above, you will want to promptly remove the brick they call a seat and replace it with something comfortable. For me, it is only good for about the first 100 miles on any given riding day. My Corbin should be in any day now, so we'll see how that works.
Aside from that, the stock windshield left a bit to be desired, IMO. I recently put on a Klock Werks, and have been a happier rider since.
Just my opinion...the denim paint is a bit interesting. It certainly does "wear" with time, showing some marks, etc. Not an issue for me, but could be for someone that likes a flawless finish on their bike.
Plan to leave it basically stock and enjoy it for quite a while.
Also...someone above mentioned wobble...I have yet to feel one bit of this in my 4000 miles, and wouldn't exactly consider myself a slow rider. I enjoy burning the turns at higher speeds, and have not noticed a bit of instability.

Reason: Addition
the little 4inch shield in front sucks imo... left stock it brings up the wind to my ears in a bad way.. the wind sound I get is super annoying on any long ride at cruising speed.
have an 8inch clearview otw.. see if that makes a difference
the stock speaker set up sucks imo.. can't really hear it when going 60mph+ WITH stock exhaust.. lol
