I cant afford to reach for the 2009 Streetglide. I can however afford the 2009 EG Standard.

Question:

Should I go for a used 2007 SG OR a new 2009 Standard? I dont know what to do...

$$ come out to roughly the same....

Cheers everyone

I'd go with a 2009 EG Standard IF you will be satisfied with the features and height. Short windshields are cheap enough, as long as you aren't giving up something else you really care about. The '09s are fine machines, and nothin' beats new!

Take all the upgrades of the 09, go for the EG Standard. That's what I would do personally. Tons of changes to the bike for 09, frame, bigger rear tire etc, etc.

if you don't care about the radio or difference in motor color the standard will fit the bill --- it's a blank canvas that you can do wonders with---of the bat wings the better choice (IMHO) is the EGC

Given the choice you described, I'd go with the 09 EG Standard. Why roll the dice on an '07 when you can get a two year warranty and the latest touring upgrades that come with the '09 touring class?

I may be biased but will say "go with the 09 Standard". I happen to prefer that it comes w/o the extra chrome bag bar and fender rails. The extra 1/2" of suspension doesn't sound like much but it is, considering it only has 3" total. But if the lowered suspension, black engine, and radio are important you may be happier with an 07-08 Street Glide, or Classic for the same money.

IMHO you should definitely go for the '09 standard.

As you described the situation and you are buying right now I would go for the 09 EG. But remember for most of us these are toys and if money is that tight maybe you should wait a while and buy what you want. Don't compromise. If there is anything the last few months of financial instability has shown us anyone is vulnerable to a change in economic conditions.

Go with the 09. Even though I have the black motor I prefer the look of the silver motor with chrome covers (add later) on a dark color bike. You can always add the bits and pieces later to make it a SG, that's what I did.
