Electronics work better as the temperature lowers. So I do not think it is the electronics as much as it might be stiffness or friction in the cruise cable. How many miles on your bike?

32400 miles - I have lubed everything but the cruise cable, perhaps you are correct. I will give this a shot when I get home.

Mine wouldnt set right after I changed my hand grips. Throttle was just slightly loose. A quick adjustment took care of the cruise set problem. Your throttle cable will stretch and will loosen slightly. Id check that first.

I will let you know. I better get it done tonight as snow is in the forecast for next week. If this turns out to be the problem I will be a bit pi$$ed at myself because I was too lazy to take the tank off to do it.
Ride safe.

Try getting the error code. Here's a link to the procedure in the DIY section:
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/ignition-tuner-ecm-fuel-injection/9225-cruise-control-initialization-diagnostics-and-codes.html

I'm having problems with my cruise as well. It won't set at any temp. Based on the codes, it appears that the cause is the throttle roll-off switch on my bike. I plan on changing my cables this winter, so hopefully I'll have cruise again this spring.

Here are a few things that I have read through the forums while diagnosing my problems (I can't confirm these, but seems as if many people have had issues)

1 - You can safely disconnect one of the spade plugs from the Throttle Roll-off switch. The throttle roll-off switch is located on the idle cable, not the throttle cable, and yes, it's the "the wire connection covered by a little rubber boot thingy"

2 - Depending on how you lube your cables, you might ruin your idle cable's throttle roll-off switch. From what I've read, some lubes (i.e. WD-40) don't play well with the electronics required for the cruise control.

Hope that helps & good luck!

Thanks watercop - just lubed and adjusted all my cables last month but I will check again. I noticed this last fall when the bike was new. Never had cruise before, thought it was the nature of the beast.

Yes, I believe what I disconnected was the throttle roll-back switch - - no fault codes that I'm aware of - - however, as you stated I can no longer disengage my cruise by blipping the throttle (not a problem since I usually use brake(s) to disengage.

pxs130 - thanks for the link. I will have a few things to do tonight.

Not a bad thing, have lots of firewood and an excuse to hit the garage.

stillwater - Now I have to question the need for the rollback switch at all - my friend offered me a new set of braided cables he had for next to nothing but I declined because they were for a non-cruise application.
