I have noticed when it is a bit cold out my cruise will not set once it warms up a bit it works no problem. It was around 24-26° early this morning and once again I had the same issue. Most of my commute is on the hi-way so there is a bit of added wind chill factor to consider, I travel around 70-80 mph most of the way.
Can anyone tell me the operating range of the cruise components? I may not have a problem at all if it is out of the operating range.
Thanks
I don't know as to what the temperature range for cruise control might be, but I know on my 07 Road Glide it works no matter what the temperature might be. This morning to breakfast, it was 22 degrees out when I left the house.
Not to sure about temperatures, but mine will not set (all of the time) on my '06 RKC. I fixed this by disconnecting what I believe was the throttle roll-back switch -- the wire connection covered by a little rubber boot thingy on my steering neck (throttle side).
Thanks Bluesssman - I forgot to put a model in my sig - that's exactly what I am riding as well but I do have a PCIII on mine. I will have to look into this a bit further since yours works no problem.
So stillwater - you have disconnected the rollback switch. This will eliminate the throttle disengaging the cruise when you increase above your setting a certain amount correct? You don't generate a fault code or any other issues by doing this?

I am also guessing from your post that your cruise works great when not cold. I am wondering if there might be a problem with your cruise control cable when cold. Just guessing here. Does the cruise eventually engage? When does that happen if it does?
stillwater - I am working from memory here so I might be wrong. I recall a clutch override switch, a throttle position? switch on the cable but I am trying picture the roll back and I am not having any luck. The "throttle position switch" is on the throttle cable by the steering head is this what you are referring to?
Bluesssman - you are correct, I do not have any problems when it is a bit warmer. I expect it will work fine when I go to lunch it is up around 32-33° now. That is why I am curious about an operating limit for the electronics. It will just not engage when at lower temps no matter how many times I set or how long I hold the set button.
