Thumbs up Shock Adjustment

I have a '09 Street Glide. It seems that the ride is pretty stiff, and I am wondering if there is an adjustment I can make in the air pressure to make it a little smoother. Other than that I love the bike...

Default too stiff

U sure that's a problem???
I am on a 09 RKC and weigh about 180 and she is about 120. I have put the pressure at anywhere between 22-26 pounds and been fine. Under that or over that gets a bit harsh.
Solo, I'm good at about 18 pounds.
Check them weekly, they tend to bleed a pound or two a week.

I understand where you're going. But, I weigh 178 and only ride solo. I'll try the 18 PSI.
Thanks.

I have an '08 and ride solo and I'm 205 lbs.
I use 8 to 10 pounds.

....and mine has never leaked any air in 6 months.

The '09's have higher pressure than the '08's; look at your owners manual. The '09's go up to 50lbs.

you can always use the full size shock (13.5 i think) that would incerse your suspenshioin travel and be a better ride people sell them used all the time

My SG was smooth on dips but seems to bottom out on hard bumps. I checked the air pressure and it was down to 2 PSI. I had them fix the leak when I had the 1000 mile service done. I'm up to 12 PSI now ( solo at 220 lbs ) and I'm going to bump up the pressure some more.
I like the handling of the SG but I do not like the bottoming out feeling.

Check inside the owners manual that came with your bike for the air pressure adjustment chart......10 lbs for a solo rider unless your baby huey and 40-50 lbs for riding 2-Up.......

I weight 170 and 10lbs has been fine....

Default Found the problem

I found my problem. First of all, thanks for all the informative responses. A few minutes ago I went out and checked the pressure in my shocks...0 psi. That's right, no air whatsoever. I didn't check it when I first bought the bike. But, I assume they had air in them at that time. This leads to my next question; is it safe to use a small compressor set at, say 10 psi. Or do I stand a chance of breaking something???
