Default Mileage

Our HOG chapter does this mileage awards thing, from Nov 30th to Nov 30th. Since yesterday and today we had rain, my 2008 mileage on my 07 FLHTC was 21,769. I now a total of 36,226 on the bike. I hope to break 25,000 this year.

No one can claim you hang out at the bars! Sounds like you ride!

I myself don't understand the obsession of mileage. I used to ride with a guy who loved to brag about his mileage and he even joined the Polar Bears who ride in all kinds of weather just to see who can do the most mileage. Whats the point? I ride to have fun and to enjoy the rides I do. I do the ride for the ride itself, not for the destination and not to achieve mileage either. That's sort of like the "Iron Butt" competition too.

The old saying was:
"It's not about the destination, it's about the ride"

But I think it can be modified to:
"It's not about the mileage, it's about the ride"

Bragging about mileage doesn't impress me much...

+1 I agree... Mileage just lets me know when I need to service my bikes.

Not bragging, sharing.

But, it is OK to "brag" about the dollars you put into the bike's exhaust....and placing a picture online so we can be mesmerized with your black tips.

I think it's cool that people can put those many miles(and more) on a bike in a year. I wish I could, but this year I rode less than last year.

That's only because those mufflers w/ black tips are FOR SALE. But thanks for keeping my post near the top for all the free advertising. I don't understand why you are taking my "opinion" so personal, as I didnt slam you. Hey, you wanna wear a patch or brag about how many miles you ride?? Have at it!

Yep,

I ride it when I want to and leave it parked when I don't.

That's the beauty of owning it, enjoying it when I want to not when someone eles thinks I should.

But...

If rolling up miles for the sake of rolling em is what makes you happy, then congrats.

Just my .02,

Krusr
