I recently changed the engine oil on my 06 FLHTI. It has 22,900 km on it. Recently I had the rear rocker seals replaced because of a leak. I also went from Mobil to Amsoil 20W50.
I observed tiny bubbles after I started it to circulate the oil. The colour seemed a little off. Kind of milky brown. Any ideas before I have to make trip to dealer in spring. I have seen no new external leaks anywhere.
You don't have one of those 2010 liquid cooled motors do you? (Sorry couldn't resist)
I have seen tiny bubbles so I wouldn't be concened about that. I assume after the seals were replaced the oil was changed? How many miles on the Amsoil?
Let me see if I understand... You were running Mobil oil and had x miles then had seals replaced and put 75km on it then changed to Amsoil and saw that the Mobil oil you took out was milky brown? If that is the case, how many miles and months were on the Mobil oil?
Milky brown and bubbles is usually water contaminated oil. Do you maybe do lots of short rides, you can normally get rid of a condensed water problem by taking a good long ride regularly to cook the condensed water out of the oil.
The Mobil 1 had 5000 mi on it and most of my riding is longer distance. The new oil in the engine looks milky brown with tiny air bubbles.
Maybe mixing oil brands from chaage to change. I am guessing that they would have drained the oil when seals done and may be put regular HD oil in.
I might try draining the new Amsoil and replacing with fresh Amsoil and see how it looks.
