I added rear bars to my RG -- a 0 mph drop can do major damage (don't ask me how I know).

Maybe you can paint the bars black, that way they are not that noticeable.

One of my best buds has a custom painted RG without crash bars---IMHO he's living dangerously

I agree with what others have said insofar as better looks but I've seen some motorcops drop their RK's at rodeo competitions and realized the damage the bikes could have incurred convinced me of their value.

Thanks for the "gift" SNS!

Took my bag bars off two weeks after I bought the bike. Momma's comfort came first and it looks great without them, On the other hand, the engine bar stays.

HD does make "passenger friendly" saddle bag guards ya know in case you are interested. I put the guards and trim rails on mine because I like the look anyway but didnt want to accidentally lay her over onto those hard bags... HD also sells the front and rear bars in flat black too.

i understand there value and a great point is that they cost maybe $200 and the deductable is $500. yes they are valuable but just messing around. i do like the black guards.
