Anyone know of any issues running the Redline shockproof heavy trans oil in the wintertime? Took a ride today after lunch (50 degrees) I haven't ridden in a few days and it has gooten below freezing the last couple of nights. When I took off I couldnt harley shift from 1st to second. My shop is not heated.
I'm concerned about the oil not circulating correctly. Anyone hear of problems with this?
I've run it for years, in Shovels, Evo's and Twins, never ever had a problem. Prolly the best thing you can put in your Tranny. Start the bike in neutral, and just let it warm up for about 1-2 minutes. You'll be fine.
ya...when you think about it..the trans oil doesn't warm up nearly as fast as engine oil for obvious reasons...nothing at all to worry about...I use the "Pepto-Bismol" myself, and it added 25HP, 25# torque, more hair on my head...oh...sorry....got carried away for a minute...

No.
If started in gear...etc. Might check shift linkage.
My mechanic put a fitting on my shifter so we could put anti-sieze grease in there. In your case, may have been something that got a "little stuck" in the many joints that go from shifter pegs to transmission.
I've run the "red stuff" in my Dyna for over 3 years and will be switching to Redlilne in my Road King now that it is up for the winter. I've been very happy with the results, smoother and quieter shifts.
Since it is a very thick fluid, it takes a little longer to warm up when it's really cold out.

I ran the pink stuff in my bike all summer no probs, when it dropped down to the 40's I had the same 1st-2nd gear sticking issue. Swapped back to Amsoil SVG and it's been smooth at 25 degrees. Are the people reporting no issues in the colder climates ?....meaning 40 degrees and below ?
