Good choice on the cams. I have them in my '04 EG 88 and it runs very strong with Rinehart TD's and SE a/c.
You should probably consider new lifters. Doug at HQ suggested using the HD "B" lifters, and like you, I used the stock pushrods.
Since then, Doug has added lifters to his product line. They are made to his spec and from the half dozen or so bikes using them, they are remarkably quiet. A bit pricey, about $160 or so for the set, but very quiet.
