winter mods (almost) complete
yeah, i know, winter is just barely starting. but remember, i live in la. we don't really have a terrible winter here
anyway, 3 mods that i had planned to do:
first, the derby cover. been working on this for a while (actually, i've just been waiting, someone else did all the work). gotta give props to tim at custom-engraving-ltd.com they do excellent work. plus he's a forum sponsor. check out their website, they have some nice (stock) stuff, plus they do custom work as well. and yes, that is 24kt gold plating.....

and:

next was the license plate relocation, rear end cleanup. this is almost finished. just waiting on an led so i can light up the plate so i can ride (legally) at night. also, have to replace the taillight lens. no longer need the white cutout on the top to illuminate the plate. i really wanted to clean up the back fender area, and i think this fits the bill.

and the 3rd mod: no pics of this one. i changed the fork oil as per iclicks thread. 3 things were stopping me from doing it sooner. didn't have the 36mm wrench, the weather was too nice to have my bike down, and lastly, my work schedule. since nov 17th been working 7 days/12 hrs shifts. but now i have some time off and can do those things. the fork oil change was a piece of cake. the only thing i did different from iclick was i bought new drain screws ahead of time so i didn't need the #3 phillips socket attachment. or so i thought. i used vise grips to get the old ones off, then found the new ones weren't right. so i reused the old ones, scuffed heads and all. next time, i'll change them out with chrome ones. don't be afraid to try this one on your own. you'll spend more time cleaning the parts as you take them off then you will the actual work.
haven't had a chance to test ride it yet, it was warm and rainy yesterday when i changed it. now today, its dry, but 38* out. oh well, it's supposed to warm up some by this weekend. hope so, got wreaths across america and a local toy run scheduled.

that was one of the reasons i went with the custom in the first place. i really like the clean front end. plus it being shorter in the rear doesn't hurt any either since i'm only 5'4".
you won't be disappointed....
