I installled the Champion Kit myself. Took about 4 hours. Really simple install. Works with the stock headpipes. No problems with being in 1st gear and reverse. If it is left in 1st gear and reverse at the same time it will kill the bike due to the bike is at idle. It has really came in handy for me and will in the future since I just bought a trailer to pull with the Ultra Classic.
reviving an old thread after searching for the above listed peice of information... i wanted reverse for the sidecar, but prefered to keep my stock exhaust on my evo as i didnt want my 4 yo riding in the sidecar to have hearing loss after all the riding. with the mamba reverse i woulda had to mess with or change the exhaust, wih the champion i was questioning the risk of damage in case i ever went back into gear after reverse was engaged... now i feel more comfortable getting the champion reverse!
just did the over counter reverse with the local Harley dealer....$1395 for the motor and $365 for the control module all plus labor.....Harley stuff is way beyond gold

Could you please be more specific and post some pictures? Thanks
My lady prefers to be off the bike when I'm backing out of a parking spot. She the eyes in the back of my head. Keeps a watch out for the crazies running through the parking lots.
I'm all for doing whatever it takes to keep riding whether it's a health issue or an age issue... Just NOT ready to go to a trike! 61 and damn glad to be able to ride! Hope I can say that at 71, 81, etc.!!!
My comment of having just done the over the counter electric reverse with Harley was not complete. I offered the comment in response to a previous post that the Harley unit was about $800. Not so, lots more, better than twice more. AND I did not purchase the electric Harley unit.
It appears from the posts where all this started that the Champion unit is about the most cost effective. Although I wish they had a neutral lock out so ol phartz like me don't have a senior moment of brain fade. Could be costly.
Baker has a unit but it won't fit the 010 Street Glide unless you change the exhaust. Having just put a dual in front of trans on the bike I don't want to buy more stuff to have sitting on the shelf or yard art.
Looking at the Champion I think that a Chrysler (early) neutral safety switch connected to a Honda turn signal beeper would at least give you fair warning that you are still in reverse before engaging the Harley trans. Could even do an ol Ford spark coil attached to the seat as a reminder?????
Anywhoo a cell phone driven by a ditz plowing into the back of my new scoot is the reason for my trike trek. I still want to ride but my lowers are still weak and unstable from the calamity.
