I have all three and I like them.

Caveat... thats my bike in the picture, I tested the new shields for free (well, they gave me the shields). No other financial interest.

I like them, much better than stock

I wear a full face helmet on my glide, which seems to exacerbate the buffeting. The new CB shield is definitely better, but doesn't completely eliminate buffeting.

I loaned the short shield to buddy, who wears a fake half helmet, and has a beard. He loved it (compared to a harley short shield).

I tested them all three with and without factory lowers. The lowers help some, but ARE NOT the total answer, at least for me.

For me, they look much better than stock as well.

I have not had an oppurtunity to compare to a Klockwork, just short and regular heigth Harley shields

If anyone is close to the Glendale, Cal area, I'd be happy to let you try one for a short ride if you are interested.

I have the KW. When I originally saw it online, I did not like the look at all. I went to the HD shop and they showed me one and I bought it. I like it on the bike. As for functionality, I thought it would block more wind than it did but is a huge difference from stock. I have only put on 20 miles or so. During the ride I continually tried to see exactly where the drafts were coming from and I agree with Terry1955. The majority was coming from around the tank. Come on warm weather. I think I'm going to have to go somewhere else to find that.

Terry1955, I grew up in Mattoon. Good to see you representing Central Illinois!

Keep in mind there is a huge difference between "wind" and "buffeting". Lots of threads on this.

I have a couple other bikes with bad buffeting as well...Suzuki V Stroms. Same cause, i.e. the shield is too far away from the rider.

The lowers helped in my testing, but did not eliminate the buffeting. I don't beleive that air from underneath is the sole cause...jmho.

When I tried the KW 12" flair I had lowers on my Road Glide, (Terry is right about the air coming from below on a RG) the 12" blocked the air really good for a 12" but 3" taller (still would have looked better than the stocker) would have sent the air totally over my head! The wind noise was the part of the 12" flair I couldn't get past it was brutal above 55mph but I'm 6'2' a little shorter and the noise went away (just my luck ) Hey gregbenner if you have the cee baily 15" for a Road Glide and might want to do a swap for the 12" Flair drop me a line!

Default vented windshield

I'm convinced that the problem is back pressure on the windshield and that a vent should help a lot. If you reduce back pressure, the air shouldn't rush up from below or wherever to fill the void. I've ordered a vent from Rifle and will fit it to my OEM windshield. Problem is, it's winter in Minnesota so I won't be able to road test for several months.
Anyone tried this?

You can't prove that by me. I can't tell that the vent on my Clearview does anything except take up space and cost money.

I have ordered from Cee and was very satisfied with the shield I got. Harley touring replacements for about $49.00 bucks...hard to beat.

I wish we had access to a wind tunnel to test all shields and combinations to settle the wind /buffeting issue once and for all. I have owned a Sportster, Dyna, and now a Roadglide. I had various types of sheilds over the years and they ALL had wind that comes up from under the tank. Lowers do help on my RG but the wind sill comes up from the bottom. I just got a 1 in over stock Clearview shield but due to weather I have not tested it. I do notice the shield slopes back further and has a slight flip at the top to kick the wind up (compared to the stock one). I have found through the years that the further back you can angle the shield, the less the air comes up from the tank area but there are limits to how far back you can angle a shield if at all. It seems to all come to how it creates a vacuum behind the shields at higher speeds and creates buffeting. The thing that helped most on my Dyna was putting my legs up on my crash bars and that was even with lowers on. If it is the vacuum created, it would seem that a vent in the shield like offered on the Clearview or others would lessen the air being sucked up from the bottom

Gotta agree with simsjam. Riding a Hardley Deficient tour bike is like pushing a barn door down the highway. Absolutely no aerodynamics at all. A 30 year old Vetter fairing does a much better job (so how old is the Harley batwing, anyway?)

There's a difference between "being in the wind" and "being buffeted." It's the only complaint I have about our Ultra, and seemingly unsolvable.
